ABOUT

Dogpiled (Sol Strandebo) is a mixed media artist with a specialty in textile sculpture.
Sol is in his fourth year of his Bachelor’s of Fine Arts at Emily Carr University of Art and Design. His soft sculptures, depicting animal forms, feel vulnerable and cozy.
He often works in patchwork, quilting, and leatherwork.
Inspired by the concept of the transitional object: a comfort object (such as a stuffed animal or blanket) that helps children first gain a distinct sense of self in infancy,
Sol’s work explores floaty feelings that exist outside the realm of verbal communication through dreamlike and friendly animal forms.
